Welcome!
My favorite pieces of technology are my Smartboard and data projector. The data projector is great for short stories or poems that you want the whole class to read. I can't begin to count the number of copies I have saved by projecting something instead of passing out 22 copies. It's also fabulous for picture book read alouds. By using the data projector, I won't have to worry about everyone being able to see the illustrations. The Smartboard is the best way to engage students before, during, and after a lesson. It can be used for small groups or whole group. I especially like having my students play review games. I often use it as a quick assessment. Special needs students really benefit from using this technology. I have a student that has a real difficulty writing, but really thrives on being able to use the Smartboard (Roblyer & Doering, 2012 pg. 18). My kids love the Smartboard even more than I do!References:

Hey...I agree withe document camera uses. I do NOT like making copies and find that the kids are more engaged when we use the document camera. I can control what they see so they won't rush ahead. I feel this is a great tool for whole group instruction when you need to use a document but don't want to do just a worksheet and hear 2 seconds later..."I'm done!"
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! I also like the layout of your blog! :)
Hey there, I really like your blog and I must say I am crazy about the Smart Board too. There have completely taken over the chalkboard. The document camera is definitely a must, it beats the copier machine. I agree, it is great for whole group instruction and it helps to really see which students are really engaged in the assignment.
ReplyDeleteI must say that I agree about the document camera. They are great to teach with and to all students to share their work with the class. Thanks for the great website!
ReplyDeleteYou've shared some great ideas! I don't have a smartboard but I do have a LCD projector. It is great for whole group instruction and does help the students to stay engaged. Thanks for the information!
ReplyDeleteI agree the document camera is a great tool! Kids are excited to share and it holds their attention. I also agree with you about saving trees. I love using my planning time doing other things besides sitting in a copy room! Love your website, thank you for sharing.
